Upgrading from Visual Casino 7 to Visual Casino 8 is the same as a new installation of Visual Casino 8. Visual Casino 8 can live side-by-side with Visual Casino 7 during the upgrade process allowing you to upgrade workstations or servers as they become available.
You can upgrade either workstations or the application server first, there is no dependency order requiring one update over another.
Workstation Upgrade Process
Please review the following information regarding upgrading to Visual Casino 8 on workstations. We recommend installing Visual Casino 8 side by side with Visual Casino 7 to be sure that all of your workflows are available before removing Visual Casino 7.
Prerequisites
You will need the following to perform the upgrade to Visual Casino 8:
- A user with the ability to add/remove programs from the workstation (usually a local workstation administrator or a member of the IT department)
- A copy of the latest Visual Casino 8 installer: https://visualcasino.net/download/visual-casino-8-windows-installer/
Installation Steps
Perform the following steps to install Visual Casino 8:
- Run the installer on the workstation
- (Optional) Remove Visual Casino 7 from the Add/Remove Programs Menu
We recommend you wait to uninstall Visual Casino 7 until you have confirmed all of your existing workflows complete successfully in Visual Casino 8.
Application Server Upgrade Process
Please review the following information regarding upgrading to Visual Casino 8 for the application server.
Prerequisites
You will need the following to perform the upgrade to Visual Casino 8:
- A user with and access to the application server and the ability to add/remove programs from the application server (usually a member of the IT department)
- A Visual Casino user that has the Setup: SSIN Settings and Setup: Setup Advanced Settings permissions (see: Permissions and Groups)
- A copy of the latest Visual Casino 8 installer: https://visualcasino.net/download/visual-casino-8-windows-installer/
Pre-Installation Checks
You should only upgrade the application server if your property connects to SIN through the New SSIN Mode connection and not the Old Polling Mode connection. Follow these steps to see if you should upgrade the application server:
- Open Visual Casino 7 on any installed machine
- Open Administration > System Settings > SIN Settings ...
- Select the property you intend to upgrade to Visual Casino 8 and click Edit
- Check that the Radio Button next to New SSIN Mode is selected
If Old Polling Mode is selected, you must first schedule an upgrade to the New SSIN Mode. Please reach out to support@biometrica.com to schedule your upgrade. We will provide a link to schedule your upgrade at your convenience. The upgrade takes about 15 minutes to perform and verify. Do not proceed if you are connecting with the Old Polling Mode. You will lose access to SSIN. The upgrade will provide the new connection settings required to bring you online and confirm the connection is working correctly.
Installation Steps
Perform the following steps to install Visual Casino 8:
- Run the installer on the server
- Open Visual Casino 7 on the Application Server and log in to the application
- Open Administration > Advanced Settings
- Select Settings > Service Settings > Service Setup
- Ensure both checkboxes next to Install SIN Service and Install CID Service are checked
- Click Uninstall all services
- Reboot the server
- Open Visual Casino 8 on the Application Server and log in to the application
- Open Administration > Advanced Settings
- Select Settings > Service Settings > Service Setup
- Ensure the checkbox next to Install CID Service is checked
- Click Install
Database Server Upgrade Process
There are no changes required to the database server to upgrade to Visual Casino 8.
