FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions about UMbRA.
- By my understanding, I should not expect to get a one-to-one confirmed hit through UMbRA, like what happens in the movies or on TV shows, I would still have to work through some options the algorithm offers me?
- Can I run a picture of a face if I don’t have a name?
- Could I, as a police officer, or a security or surveillance professional, or private investigator, upload a photograph of someone and run a search on UMbRA to see if they have any kind of law enforcement record in connection with a crime?
- How does the facial recognition part of it work? If I upload a face, will an UMbRA search immediately tell me who that person is?
- How long does a search take?
- I found the person I was looking for, but he was at No. 9 on the list of results. He wasn’t first, or even among the first eight options. In addition, his result had similar confidence rating scores to the people at Nos. 10 and 11 too. Why was that?
- Is the FBI’s database bigger?
- Is the UMbRA search option also available on my cell phone?
- Once I sign up, is there a limit to the number of searches I can run in a month?
- What happens when I sign up for UMbRA?
- What if I run a search and that person doesn’t crop up in your system, but I later find out he or she has a record?
